Meet Our Team

David Westin

President & Chief Executive Officer

David Westin was President of ABC News from 1997 through 2010. During that time, he oversaw coverage of President Clinton’s impeachment, the 2000 election, the 9/11 attacks, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the economic crisis of 2008. Under his direction, ABC News launched its website, ABCNews.com; started the first live, streaming 24-hour news service, ABC News Now; and transformed the ways that it collected, produced, and reported the news through extensive use of digital technology. During Westin’s tenure, ABC News earned 11 George Foster Peabody Awards, 13 Alfred I. DuPont Awards, five George Polk Awards, more than 40 News & Documentary Emmys, and more than 40 Edward R. Murrow Awards. Before taking the helm at ABC News, Westin was President of the ABC Television Network and General Counsel of the parent company, Capital Cities/ABC. He was a partner and associate at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering in Washington and, immediately after law school, clerked for J. Edward Lumbard on the Second Circuit and for Lewis F. Powell on the Supreme Court.

Lisa Wilson

SVP, Sales

Lisa Klem Wilson is the Senior Vice President of Sales for NewsRight. Wilson is a media executive with over 20 years’ experience in IP and business development with extensive experience in B2B content licensing, talent management, website development and project execution. Most recently, Wilson was senior vice president and general manager of United Media’s two syndicates, United Feature Syndicate and Newspaper Enterprise Association. In that position, she managed global sales, marketing, editorial, promotion and production. During her tenure, she launched Dilbert, VCR+ and comics.com along with hundreds of other properties. Before joining United Media, Wilson was a sales executive for the publisher, Andrews McMeel Universal in Kansas City where she focused on content sales. Earlier in her career she was an account executive for UNUM and a media buyer for Kenyon & Eckhardt advertising in New York. Wilson earned a B.A. degree in economics and political science from Georgetown University.

Riyad Omar

VP, Principal Legal Officer & Secretary

Riyad Omar is responsible for NewsRight’s legal affairs and is NewsRight’s Secretary. Prior to joining NewsRight, he was Associate General Counsel of Business Governance at the Associated Press. At AP, Omar’s responsibilities included, among other things, legal oversight of AP’s digital and technology departments, and he was actively involved in a wide range of transactions, including strategic investments and partnerships. In 2009, Omar joined a small team to create AP’s News Registry, NewsRight’s core technology platform. As a key team member, he helped define the News Registry’s integrated legal, business and technology strategy and served as the News Registry’s legal director. He also had legal oversight over NewsRight’s spin-off from AP. Prior to joining AP, Omar was an associate with the law firm Dewey Ballantine LLP, where he worked extensively on technology and intellectual property-driven transactions in the media, software, information technology and pharmaceutical sectors. Omar holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California.

Srinandan Kasi

EVP & Chief Operating Officer

Srinandan Kasi is an information industry professional who brings 20 years of experience with strategic initiatives at the intersection of media, law and information technology. Most recently, Kasi was on the management committee of The Associated Press, in his capacity as vice president, general counsel and secretary of The Associated Press, with global responsibility for AP’s legal affairs. Prior to joining the AP in 2004, Kasi was a corporate transactions lawyer in New York City with a focus on corporate ventures and alliances in the information technology sector. Kasi began his career as a scientist at IBM, with product development responsibilities in the microelectronics area. Kasi holds a law degree from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar, a doctoral degree in the physical sciences from the University of Houston and an undergraduate degree in the physical sciences from the University of Madras, India.

Christopher Ellis

Manager of Publisher Services

At NewsRight, Christopher Ellis oversees content registration and works closely with publishers to keep them informed about the business and technical details of working with NewsRight. He acts as a vital information source for NewsRight’s product development and technology services by collecting publishers’ feedback on NewsRight products and services, and works closely with the legal and sales teams to help close contractual arrangements between publishers and NewsRight. Prior to joining Newsright, Ellis was the Engagement Manager for Digital Services at the Associated Press. He holds a JD from Fordham University School of Law and graduated from The Colorado College.

Matt Krieger

VP, Controller

Matt Krieger has over 20 years of experience in public and private accounting. Over the last decade, he has focused on companies at the startup and early stage levels. Prior to NewsRight, Krieger was the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) at The One Group, a young and fast-growing national hospitality company; the CFO fat Snap Telecommunications, Inc., a venture-backed startup which provided relay services to the deaf and hard of hearing community; the CFO at The Gerber Group, a multi-national hospitality company; an internal audit manager with Viacom, Inc.; and an audit manager at certified public accounting firm of Goldstein Golub Kessler LLP (now RSM McGladrey). Krieger is a CPA and holds a BS in Accounting from Binghamton University.
